Career Technical Education Assessment
CETE’s goal is to provide high-quality assessments of career-technical education (CTE) learning for individual credentialing, educational program improvement, and accountability.
Ohio’s CTE Assessments. Since 1993, CETE has been responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Ohio’s CTE assessment system.
- Developed and maintained the original Ohio Vocational Competency Assessment (OVCA) system, based on Occupational Competency Analysis Profiles (OCAPs)
- Now maintains the Career Technical Competency Assessment (OCTCA) system, based on Career Field Technical Content Standards (CFTCSs)
- Currently in the second year of a 4-year project, Articulation through Assessment (AtA) to revise all of Ohio’s CTE assessments and target them toward use for articulation of postsecondary credit
Other Components
- Launched in 2000, WebXam is CETE’s secure web-based test delivery and data reporting system created for use in educational and employment settings. WebXam is designed to handle assessment delivery, data tracking, and reporting requirements of multitiered modular assessment systems as well as standard single-use examination administrations. WebXam was created by the Ohio State University’s Center on Education and Training for Employment.
- CETE’s WebXam system also hosts assessments created by others (e.g., MarkED or MBA Research tests).
- CETE provides professional development in the creation and evaluation of CTE assessments through a 3-day Test Development Workshop.
