Test Development Workshops

Developing valid, reliable assessments (tests) of job specific knowledge and skills is critical for effective and defensible practice in workforce development and human resources management. Occupational knowledge and skill assessments are used for many personnel-and education-related functions, including:

A carefully-designed systematic approach to test development maximizes return on investment and contributes to candidate satisfaction and motivation. Poorly designed assessments may yield erroneous and damaging results, leading to employee or candidate dissatisfaction, ineffective credentialing decisions and possible exposure to litigation.

Presenters

James T. Austin, Senior Research Specialist, PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (Virginia Tech, 1987) with postdoctoral training in Quantitative Psychology. He has worked on projects at CETE since 1997 and is the Director of Assessment Services.

Robert A. Mahlman, Senior Research Specialist, MA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology in 1990 (Ohio State). He has directed projects at CETE since 1995 and is the Director of the Center on Education and Training for Employment

Registration

You can register yourself or others for the Test Development Workshop by completing the registration form (pdf). The registration fee is $1,100 for the three-day workshop which includes all notes and handouts and a lunch each day.

The workshop may be postponed if there are insufficient registrations. Cancellations must be received ten working days before the start of the workshop to receive a full refund; cancellations received less than ten working days before the workshop will be refunded half of the registration fee.
